Hello all,
Michelin recently announced another PS4S offering for European
markets: 225/45 ZR17 94Y XL.
No PS4, but 4S! Actually it's the very first 17" PS4S sold in Europe.
Start of production: week 36 2023.
Yes, for our friends across the pond it's no news.
My review about my own 225/40 R18 Y PS4S remains the same.
Somewhat stiffer and noisier compared to my previous PSS, but
much better on wet, whereever, whenever, in particular when cold
(~+10°C).

I chose the Azenis FK520 for my Tiguan because Falken advertised it as a high performance SUV tire. Having driven it for aprox 2500 miles so far I can say it is a good tyre for dry an wet conditions. Never lost the grip so far. However I have to addmit it is not very comfortable, as you would expect in a SUV. The sidewall of the tyre is very stiff, so it gives good feedback, but it also transfers every small bump right into your seat. I had to lower the tyre pressure to 1.9bar/27psi, to get a somewhat decent ride. If the tyre is inflated to 2.2bar/32psi, you can definitely feel a radial wobble and vibrations at higher speeds. Did not expect this from Falken. I would not recommend it for SUVs, maybe it works good on sportier cars.

Preis-Leistung ist OK, da der Reifen größtenteils günstig zu haben ist. Grip ist gut, jedoch Einlenkverhalten und Lastwechsel schwammig, da die Seitenflanke für einen UHP-Reifen zu weich ausgelegt ist, insbesondere für schwerere Fahrzeuge. Mit zunehmender Abnutzung werden die Reifen lauter und beginnen zu "singen", was gerade bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten auf der Autobahn nervend wird.

Ich fahre den Reifen auf einem Audi S4 und werde ihn hoffentlich tauschen können. Er ist bei schnellen Autobahnkurven instabil, hat furchtbare Resonanzfrequenzen die zu Vibrationen führen, und laufen gemäß Hunter Roadforce auch nicht rund (einer hat 115N). Ich muss sie mit weit über 3 Bar Luftdruck fahren, um halbwegs ein stabiles Vibrationsfreies Auto zu bekommen. Im Gegensatz zu den Conti Winterreifen und auch den Bridgestone Potenza, die ab Werk montiert waren, ist die Reifenflanke der Michelin gefühlt einfach viel zu weich. Und das Einlenkverhalten einfach viel zu zäh. Die Audi Vorderachse ist ja eh nicht fürs Einlenken bekannt, aber mit dem Potenza hatte man einen lenkfreudigen Reifen. Die Michelins dagegen haben das Sport im Namen nicht verdient. Sie sind leise und haben gute Nasshaftung. Der Rest ist Murks.

I’ve had these for about 35000km on the car and they were driven sporty, sometimes aggressively. Overall performance in the dry is very good, apart from road noise which could be even lower (it’s not bad at all!). Performance in the wet suffers from pronounced under steer in my setup with 245 at the front, 265 at the back. Never had any issues with that on the road, but trying to get the car into a controlled oversteer is not so easy with the lack of bite at the front in wet conditions. Furthermore the shoulder wears a lot quicker than the mid section of the tire which limits the lifespan. (Before you ask: yes I take a lot of highspeed ramps on and off the autobahn. And no, my chassis does not need alignment). Overall I think it’s been a good tire and I need a replacement by the end of this season. I’ll probably check the Ventus S1 Evo3

Very good in the dry, awesome in heavy rain, operates perfect in all conditions from 2 to 35°C, also udable on trackday at Spreewaldring and Nordschleife tourist laps, transporting my son to Nürburgring, Oschersleben and many more motorsport locations in Germany, the A5 just deliver grip. The wear is astonishing low for this kind of use on my Swift Sport ZC33S for 6000 km. Comfort is good, handling is good too, only the streering feeling could be better. A huge step from the stock tyres Conti Sportcontact 5. Would be interesting to know how A5 perform in compare to Yokohama Advan 052.
